Nirvana

Nirvana. That is a higher state of consciousness that is similar to getting on a "high" after taking drugs. In this state, we supposedly feel no pain or sadness, feeling instead, happiness. We feel as though the whole meaning of life has been unlocked, and we sort of become "all-knowing". It is similar to going into a trance, and we cannot necessarily control our actions, yet at the same time, we can.

Why am I suddenly talking about Nirvana? The answer is because I felt as though I reached that state today. What happened was that the AA Team was doing footdrill during First Aid Training. We did the first few commands very well, with perfect stamping on our turning and "tiga langkah". What I did during those commands was to look at the stamping leg of the person next to me and co-ordinate my leg accordingly. However, the minute we began marching, I seemed to go into the state of... you guessed it, NIRVANA!!!

During that time, my mind was somewhere else, as though I had an out-of-body experience. My arms swung involuntarily, and I excecuted all the commands with ease, as though I were not controlling my body. For some reason, 90% of our stamping was co-ordinated, which is much better than our trainings. I was able to perform my footdrill subconsciously. This is similar to certain fighting techniques like drunken boxing, where everything relies on your subconscious, and you do things out of reflex. Many fighting styles say that using your subconscious to fight is the highest level of fighting, and the person usually wins.

Think about it. What if we can get into this stage of Nirvana as and when we want to? When there's a boring lesson, just get into the stage of Nirvana and sleep with your eyes open. At the end of the lesson, you can leave the classroom refreshed, yet knowing all that the teacher has taught. How about letting your whole life be Nirvana? Then you live like a robot or computer program, letting your subconscious live your life, like the matrix. But then again, life will be very boring, will it not?

So, my fellow bloggers. Let's find our centres.

But on fire within
Once you find your center
You are sure to win" -- I'll Make A Man Out of You from Mulan Soundtrack

What happened later on was that the team did a second drill sequence. This time, we started badly, much worse than the first one. And this time, I could not get into the stage of Nirvana. So I guess confidence is important. If the team starts well and I get my confidence up, maybe I can reach Nirvana. So I hope that I can reach this stage during the competition, and we'll get 50/50 for drill:)

Competition countdown: 10 Days
